Free Listing on Yell with Video

In the US the directory most used across the states on the Internet is Yellowbook.com. And for some time now they have offered businesses that list the opportunity to add a business video.

Yell.com business videos

In mid 2009 Yell.com in the UK stated they were launching a video section on their website. Originally they were offering to produce a business video for any local company. Or a business could upload their own video and there would be a charge to host the business video. It seems at present Yell.com is not going to charge to host videos.

Now launched, here in the UK, Yell.com has added a section to their website to allow businesses to upload a business video. It seem relatively new as at the time of writing this article there are only about 3000 businesses listed for London of which most are part of a tour Yell has made at some time prior to launch to add some videos.

Checking most counties around the UK found very few videos of local businesses. Which makes it a very good time to grab a listing at present as listings of your own business video is free of charge.

Yell.com does offer to produce a video for you using one of their, out sourced, video production companies. Or you can produce your own business video using a domestic camcorder. Alternatively you can find a video production company yourself and pay them to produce your business video.

The process of uploading video is very similar to uploading to YouTube. The main different is that your video must be a business video. From personal trials of uploading business videos it takes at present about four days to see a business video appear in any search on Yell.com. The assumption is that each business video is checked manually to ensure the video is of a business nature.

For those that are considering producing a business video there are a number of guild lines to follow. First it must be a business video as the upload process requires business details. Secondly the video should be relatively short and a video between 30 seconds to 2 minutes should get your message across. Third the video represents your business and should look professional and a high definition video will help in that respect.

A final tip when a business video is uploaded is, to add the full website address at the beginning of the description http://www.yourdomain . When the business video is listed by Yell.com the website address is an active link in the title of the video as well as a ‘visit website’ link. This would normally be a paid for extra in the normal listings.

Video on Google Page One, Day One

I provide a video production and editing services to businesses in the UK. In the US video in business websites is growing massively. Google and all other search engines now treat videos the same as they treat websites but with one major difference. A website can take months to show up on Google or Yahoo etc, but a video can show up in a Google search the next day.

This gives businesses a great opportunity to run advertising campaigns with videos on the Internet. A video also gives you a presence on other sites like all the video sharing sites not just on your own website. This can attract new customers to your website. The other great benefit of video is,  it can be created at a very low cost.

My three family businesses generate most of their customers from their websites. Videos produced of their products and services have helped enormously with attracting new customers.

I carried out an experiment recently with video and these are the results:

Google Video Page One Day One I carried out the exercise for two reasons. One to checkout my new Panasonic High Definition Camcorder and two to see how fast I could get a new video indexed on Google. The results above speak for themselves.

The Internet is a great marketing medium, in my opinion, but it has grown so large. It has become more and more difficult to become noticed on the Internet with a website, without a great deal of optimisation and time.

Since Google bought YouTube in 2006, video is treated the same as websites. And from my experience video seems to get indexed faster than websites. Which makes it a great medium and an inexpensive way to promote new products and services to new and existing customers.

I have spent a great deal of time producing videos for the Internet and how video is treated by the search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. The video shown above was unloaded to YouTube without any special software tools, just my knowledge of video and search engines.

I am so confident about video I am willing to produce any business their first video free of charge and will ensure it is listed high on the search engines like Google.

Page one on Google with Video

Campsites and Caravan parksI have been developing this new website for Campervans, Caravans and Motorhomes called www.campervansmotorhomes.co.uk. The aim of the website is to have videos of campsites and caravan parks for campervan, caravan and motorhome owners to view prior to booking a stay.

Having owned a touring caravan and hired motorhomes it is an advantage to know what a site is like before your visit. Although you can see photos of sites on other websites and owner websites but these photos are limited in what they show of a site.

I launched the website at the end of April 2010 and added the first video of a caravan park called Billing Aquadrome. Below is a recent search on Google for ‘campervans billing’. It shows a page one ranking for my new website at positions one and two.

Google page one ranking with video

Also it shows a page one listing for the video I produced, uploaded to YouTube and embedded into the website. See image above. The video is ranked independently of a website. Google treats video the same as a website. In fact you can have a video of your business ranked high on search engines like Google even without having a website.

Marketing with Video

A video of your business or an interesting video with a message about your business will encourage viewers to visit your website. Your video on these on-line video websites helps your website in the search engines like Google. Although working with other social media should be considered to ensure a video has every opportunity to be found by all the search engines.

Here is a video of a London restaurant promoting their food. How much text and pictures would you need to convey this 2.5 minute video?

A growing number of major companies are now using YouTube as another advertising medium to reach the hundreds of millions of monthly YouTube viewers. The fact that it is free makes it an ideal place to experiment, marketing your business products or services. Some companies use online video to inform and update their employees about company information. Others use online video to explain how to use their products or services.

Finally local businesses can use the video medium to showcase their businesses. Although a video up loaded to YouTube can be viewed around the world it can also show up in a local search. This Wedding Car video uses still pictures to show their range of services.

Since YouTube took the Internet by storm a year after its launch in 2005 and was subsequently bought by Google in 2006 for $1.6billion. I have watched with interest the direction that online video is taking. Although YouTube is by far the largest video sharing site there are a number of other websites offering to showcase videos.

Video is the immediate future of the Internet. And for once it is not expensive to be part of it, which in the economic climate we are in at the moment is just as well. YouTube has finally found a way to make money by advertising on videos and hopefully will keep the ability to up load videos free for many years to come.

Websites with Video

A Website versa Online Business Video

A good website should look professional, be easy to navigate and provide the information the searcher is looking for. And a good business website is one that is easily found by your potential customers. If your website designer does not offer you both good design and SEO, you should be looking for another website designer.

If you are not ready to invest in a website then consider a business video which can give your business exposure on the Internet. Distributed correctly you would get more exposure with a video than having a website no one can find. And it would cost you nothing but your time if you made the video yourself. There are a number of individuals that have made a living just from up loading videos to YouTube.

Watch this video of a US company that has not only used the new video medium to market their product but has made a humourous series of videos about their product. Apparently increasing their sales of the product by 500%. The company is called Blendex.

An Optimized Website with Video can mean Higher Ranking.

I am not a website designer but I know how to improve a websites visibility. I have improved family, friends and colleagues websites, which has given me a good deal of knowledge about optimizing a website for the search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. Good website optimization will get your website highly ranked and keep it highly ranked.

An online business video optimised in the same way, can also reach a page one listing on the search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. A video is just a black box to search engines, as are photos. The title, description and keywords that are up loaded with a video are the important part of getting a video to rank highly on search engines, along with other technologies.

Video embeded in your Website.

You may already have a highly ranked website. But could your services or products also benefit from video? For example, one of my family businesses is called Edible Bouquets. When the business was launched in May 2007 it was a new concept of offering fresh fruit arranged like flowers as a gift.

Although the website has good quality photos of every fruit bouquet design, I produced a few videos of the business and the products being made. I up loaded them to YouTube and other video sharing sites and embeded the videos in pages on the website, where appropriate.

One video has had over 170,000 views to date, which does not include views of the video on the website. With a link to the website in the description on the video sharing site means viewers are one click away from your website.
