Yell.com are moving with the times and have added videos to their website. Originally they were going to charge a fee to host business videos. Currently they are running a ‘Beta’ offering of video hosting of local business videos. What does that mean?
Well, last year they were going to offer hosting of business videos like YouTube does but they were going to charge a fee to do so. They also offered a professional video filming service, which they still do. Now it seem they are trying out a free service and allowing any business to upload their videos.
I have uploaded three videos, so far, of my families businesses which are videos I have produced and are currently on YouTube. Although Yell.com lists videos by catagory they don’t give you an option to choose a catagory when you upload your video.
The upload procedure is similar to YouTube and you can upload a title, description an tags when the video has completed its upload. Theoretically if someone searches for a particular business type then the ‘tags’ you have entered should find your video. Adding the location you want should reduce the list of videos for that particular search.
I cant find out how long the video ‘beta’ part of Yell.com is going to run so I would suggest you upload your video now to get some free advertising. It may be they will let anyone upload videos for the forseeable future and only charge to produce ‘professional’ videos. Or they may let your videos produce some traffic that they can monitor and come back to you offering to keep your video online for a ‘fee’.
Anyway take advantage of the free service now. If you have a camcorder shoot some video of your business and upload it to Yell.com. I will also upload your video to other video sharing sites and embed it into your website if you wish.
